October 31, 2023, China - STMicroelectronics (ST), the world's leading semiconductor company serving multiple electronic applications; Nyse :STM) is exhibiting at the Singapore International Industry Fair (ITAP 2023, booth number 2A23), October 18-20, 2023.
The ST booth brought ten exhibits developed by the company with ecosystem partners in key industrial markets, highlighting IO-Link factory automation, wireless connectivity, connection security, a variety of STM32 industrial-grade microcontrollers, next-generation predictive maintenance and power management solutions.
Factory automation with IO-Link: The IO-Link automated production line showcases ST's total smart factory solution, using IO-Link technology to manage digital input/output, sensors and solenoid valve drivers. The modules used in the demonstration products are from digital input/output boards, sensor boards and actuator boards developed by ST's T Automation Technology Innovation Center. With IO-Link communication technology, factory automation can significantly improve production efficiency while saving energy.
Wireless Connectivity: The market's unique STM32WL long Range sub-GHz Wireless System-on-a-chip (SoC) family offers flexible configuration and package options for a variety of mass market applications such as developing intelligent energy management. St exhibited a water meter solution developed by Singapore smart meter manufacturer Sindcon IoT Technology Company, highlighting a water meter renovation and upgrade project. Adding the STM32WLE5 LoRaWAN® wireless microcontroller to Sindcon's energy network of more than 50,000 water, gas and electricity meters in Jakarta, Indonesia, enables remote meter reading and solves the challenge of meter reading in the diverse and vast urban and forest areas of Jakarta. Sindcon's modified meters feature STM32WLE5 and an advanced battery management system to support accurate remote meter reading for up to 10 years.
Another STM32WL-based solution on display is the LoRaWAN street light developed by AVNET. In this exhibit, the STM32WL is integrated within the NEMA controller to better operate and monitor street lights. These solutions are a testament to the versatility and adaptability of the STM32WL series, which has proven to be the driving force behind accelerating industrial change and improving energy management.
The industrial-grade STM32: STM32G4 Motor Control Development Kit is a three-phase low-voltage DC brushless motor solution design and evaluation platform with a firmware library that includes sensorless and sensorless motor control code examples, as well as software supporting vector control (FOC) and sinusoidal PWM.
Predictive Maintenance and Power management: The demo product is a USB PD power panel fully protected by STM32+TCPP(Type-C Port Protection). Together with the dedicated NUCLEO motherboard and X-NUCLEO expansion board, the STM32+TCPP panel demonstrates multiple USB-C PD application scenarios, including computer peripherals and gaming devices. When connected to an X-NUCLEO-SNK1M1 daughter board, the demo product demonstrates the protocol function of negotiating the PDO as the receiving device communicates with the supplying device. When connected to the X-NUCLEO-DRP1M1 subboard, the demo product demonstrates the protocol function of the PDO when the power supply is a dual role of receiving and supplying power. When connected to the X-NUCLEO-SRC1M1 motherboard, the demo product demonstrates the ability to negotiate a PDO with the receiving device and charge the device (X-NUCLEO-SNK1M1, X-NUCLEO-DRP1M1 or an external charging device).
